Perspectives on Gender Equality Seminar 2016 – The objective was to introduce Gender Equality from different perspectives and professions to examine the various challenges in dealing with gender inequality and Violence Against Women and Children. The end result is to formulate tangible action plans that are collaborative across society on local and international level.
Kuwait is active in such initiatives; however, Soroptimist Kuwait wanted to bring these activists together for future collaboration and activism towards women, their children, and their families. Education is the key to encourage open dialogue in any activism project. Therefore, we started the initiative with a seminar that focused on the UN Sustainable Development goals specifically the following 3: SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls SDG 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access for justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
